Stay Young & Keep Life Fun

Waboba began in Sweden and has since bounced all across the globe, turning human beings (and sometimes dogs) into Waboba addicts - also known as Wabobians.

Since 2005, we have been dedicated to developing fun, innovative products for people to play with and enjoy all over the world. Even though Waboba first began as “The Ball that Bounces on Water” (thanks to our inventor, Jan von Heland), we soon realized millions of Wabobians would go through withdrawal if they didn’t have something fun to play with on land too. So we created the Street, and Flyer to keep the obsession going strong during the colder months.

Today, Waboba is a worldwide brand with different cultures bouncing our balls on every continent. Our goal is to connect people with our simple belief of having fun outside. Because when you’re having fun with others, there are no differences. Nor do you think about all the petty stuff or stress in your life. All becomes a distant memory when you bounce outside with Waboba. So join us and play with the world!

Meet the Waboba Team

Dale Marx

Dale is the CEO of Waboba Inc., USA. With his strong background in organizational development, management, and sales, Dale was chosen to lead Waboba’s continued brand and market expansion as a diverse toy, game, sports and fitness line. His professional experience ranges from building one of the largest sporting goods manufacturer’s rep firms, to extensive involvement in private label manufacturing. When he’s not in the office, you’ll find Dale golfing, boating, fishing, and spending time with his two sons. For the record, he is 6’5”. So if you can bounce a Waboba ball over his head, consider yourself a pro.

Buck Bowers

One of the original Cameron Crazies from the 1975 graduating class of Duke University, Buck is the national sales manager of Waboba USA. Simply put, he’s the guy that helps you find more Waboba in retail stores throughout the States. Buck has always been interested in athletics/sports and was even a football coach for Auburn back in the day. When he’s not on the road, you might find him hiking, cycling, kayaking, spending time with his family, and eating fresh fish, except for Tilapia.

Jordan Sullivan

Some say Jordan was anxious to see the world since she was born in 20 minutes and debuted on the bathroom floor. Can you blame her? Jordan is our director of fun and games, handling all of our social media pages and creating fun promotions to get people excited about playing Waboba! Jordan is a valuable part of our team, always sharing what Wabobians say and helping us respond to needs and requests to bring us closer to our customers aka Wabobians. So if you're interacting with us on Facebook or Twitter, that's Jordan you're talking to – and well her dogs Cooper and Amaya too, since they are always lying by her feet.

Axel von Heland

Axel is the managing director/CEO of Waboba in EMEA and is headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden. As you might have guessed he is Jan’s other son and has been working full time for Waboba since 2009 after studying economics and psychology in San Diego, CA. Axel loves to be involved with new projects and ideas, sometimes with a beer in hand. He prides himself on having the second best Waboba team in the world, since years ago during the first ever Waboba World Cup where only two teams played, his team came in second place. On his spare time, you’ll find Axel playing chess, thinking of new business ideas, supporting the AIK football club, or daydreaming about becoming a legendary hockey player.

Sarah van Tol

Sarah is the half Greek/half Swede CFO of Waboba handling anything and everything that has to do with money. It may seem heavy, but it’s a lot lighter compared to other things. On the side, Sarah is a gym instructor in functional training and can deadlift 120kg (265 lbs) and bench 65kg (143 lbs). Not bad considering she is only 5’3”. Sarah lives by the proverb, “Problems exist only for one reason – and that is solving them.” Which for us works well considering we always need solutions and Sarah is our go-to for accounting, business analysis and planning. When she’s not lifting or doing numbers, you’ll find Sarah admiring food, drawing, or playing Resident Evil.

Ana Paula Ferro

Some call her Ana, others call her Paula, but you can only call her the latter if you’re related. Apart from handling sales in Portugal and Spain, Ana is an instrumental player in building the Waboba game and sport at beaches and clubs throughout Iberia and hopes to one day see Waboba grow into an Olympic sport. Developing new projects is something she loves doing. Before joining Waboba, Ana helped start FedEx in Portugal and it continues to thrive today. Much like how Ana and wine get better with age.

Christian von Heland

Christian is the CEO of Waboba Asia and the son of Waboba founder/inventor, Jan von Heland. He oversees production and product development, often visiting the factories to see that all Waboba products are produced properly and meet our high quality and safety standards. Before work, Chris likes to show off his muscles at the gym and after work he rehearses playing guitar. One day, Chris wants to bicycle through Europe with his guitar, serenading people with his music as he pedals. In the summer, Chris loves the salty smell of the sea mixed with the smell of a new Waboba Pro and enjoys eating Master Kangs Noodles after playing Waboba.

Sam Huang

Sam joined Waboba in November 2009 as lead designer of Waboba Ltd. in China and spends his time focusing on packaging design and developing new ideas for sports products. Sam’s first major product and baby is the Waboba Moon, which is a great addition to the Street line and will be sure to be a hit when Wabobians aren’t at the beach. Speaking of, Sam is from Hainan Island where you can find the most beautiful beaches in China to play Waboba. But don’t worry about sweating around Sam, it’s his favorite summer smell and he would probably bottle it if he could.

Stella Huang

Stella is the Vice President of Waboba Asia and even though she’s been with the company for a few years now, she is ashamed to admit she still struggles to master playing with the Waboba balls, which always makes others in the office laugh when they watch her attempts. But it’s okay because she proved herself from once joining Waboba as a business coordinator and now being the VP. She is the master of other things and is often handling many tasks like logistics, production, HR, and accounting.

Hrolf Zheng

Hrolf wants everyone to think WABOBA when they go into the water. With his role as regional sales manager for Asia and South America, he is helping his goal come true. Hrolf has been in the sales industry for 14 years and has grown to think of sales as an art after being inspired by the idea to “sell something out of nothing.” Prior to Waboba, Hrolf grew up in Canada, where he played varsity volleyball through high school and college. Today, he still is involved in volleyball as a coach for a high school team and spends his spare time immersed in sports like the NBA and weeping when the Lakers play.
