Meet Chris- Waboba's Social Media Manager!

Chris Evans
Title: Social Media Manager
Office Location: Charleston, SC

What do you do at Waboba  and when did you start?
I am the social media manager and content creator at Waboba. I started in August of 2021.

What do you love most about working on the creative team?
I love how much fun it is creating content with our team. Sometimes we can't stop laughing while we're out filming simply because of how ridiculous we must look!

What’s your favorite piece of content/marketing project you’ve worked on?
I love all the content that went viral on social media, as well as anytime I get content from Wabobians who are out there keeping life fun! Since I'm such a movie buff, I'd have to choose the below videos as my all time faves:

What's your favorite product?
I’m going to cheat and say it's a tie between the Moon Ball & the Original Waboba Ball.

Send us a picture of your desk! What are some must-haves for your work station?
A stand up desktop for my desk (I hate sitting) and my lucky turkey foot!

What did you do before you landed at Waboba?
I worked as a Marine Biologist for the state of South Carolina. I spent a lot of time out on the ocean performing sea turtle research, as well as plenty of time scuba diving on South Carolina reefs with the purpose of tracking other large marine animals that travel along the Atlantic coast!

What’s one fun thing that’s different about working at  Waboba  than other places you’ve worked?
A day spent at the beach playing with toys is considered “work”!

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I always wanted to become an environmental police officer or park ranger patrolling the great outdoors and protecting our precious resources.

What’s your secret talent no one knows about?
I never forget a face. It can be creepy when I meet a stranger who I recognize, but haven't spoken to haha.

If you could have any  superpower, what would it be?
Most people would choose fly or x-ray vision, but I think it would be the power to heal others. Just as long as the government didn’t capture me and do tests on me...

Tell us something about you that most people don’t know.
I am an avid sportsman and conversationist. I love hunting, fishing, and being outdoors.

At  Waboba, we always aim to #keeplifefun. How do you stay a big kid at heart?
I never stop joking. I always try to keep things light and fun because what’s life without some laughter?

How would you describe  the culture at  Waboba?
A close knit family environment where everyone is down to play!

If you could tell your 12-year-old self something, what would it be?
Stop worrying so much! Do that thing that makes you nervous, talk to that girl, and tell your friends and family you love them all the time.

What’s your favorite way to play and stay active?
I love getting out in nature with all the creatures and being in pursuit of certain game that’s in season.

What’s a quote or song lyric you live by?
I Got A Name -Jim Croce
“Like the pine trees linin' the windin' road
I've got a name, I've got a name
Like the singin' bird and the croakin' toad
I've got a name, I've got a name
And I carry it with me like my daddy did.”

When did you grow up and what was the best part about that time period?
I grew up in the 90’s & 00’s in rural NY. The early part of my childhood was relatively technology free, save a few Gameboys and Nintendos. As a result, I spent a lot of time out in the woods building forts and following my older brothers around! I also spent a lot of time riding around with my dad in his truck, I miss those times going around town and hanging out at garages or construction yards just shootin' the breeze with all his old cronies.

What was the first concert you ever attended?
It was Country Fest 2012- Eric Church & Joe Nichols.

Where on earth are you hoping to travel next?
I want to see the mountains of the Western USA.

Would you rather walk on water or walk on the moon?
I'd rather walk on water.

What would be your last dying meal?
Lobster & Fried Seafood Platter from Champlin's in Point Judith, RI.

What is one thing you cannot live without?
Hunting and the outdoors.

Where is your favorite place you've traveled to so far?
Recently took my first trip outside the USA to Nuremburg and Munich, Germany. One of my favorite parts was taking the train out into the Bavarian countryside and seeing the sunrise on all the small towns seperated by rolling hills and patches of pine forests.

What’s something on your bucket list you hope to check off?
I want to have my own piece of land out in the country and build my own house with the help of my brothers and uncle.
